Well, it's been quite a while since I've been here, and it's probably time to catch up. The biggest change that has come about lately (as the title of this post alludes to) is that I was laid off from my job. I was a little blindsided by the fact that the paper was making layoffs again — in fact, I think most everyone was. But while I lose a fabulous job and incredible co-workers, I am sure that what is in store will probably also be terrific. And maybe, just maybe, I will actually make time to blog more regularly.
In other changes, I have spent a little more time knitting of late. And I know, while that's not a huge change, it's still a change because I am just more likely to play with hooks and yarn instead of needles and yarn. And I am enjoying myself, even if it does take what seems like a zillion times longer to finish a knit project than a crochet one. Here is a lovely stole that took me nearly the whole month of January to complete. It was a challenging piece and I am pretty proud of it.
And here is a close-up of the stitch pattern. I wish the sun had been out for these pictures because the yarn actually has awesome little sparkles in it. And the colors are so pretty — lavenders, blues and grays.
And the last of the changes (at least in this post) is with church. The building our congregation uses was flooded last week, and because of the damage to the building, we are meeting at a different building and at a different time. We have been going to church at 9 a.m. for what seems like forever, and now we are going at 2 p.m. I have to admit I am liking it, at least for now. And it's temporary, so it makes it even easier to like. But I'm not sure that even if it takes a few months to get our building fixed that I will be happy to go back to 9 a.m. church. :^)
